Shaping futures with proven leadership
Shri S.M. Acharya, a distinguished leader with over three decades of service in the IAS (Indian Administrative Service), brings unparalleled experience and dedication to the education sector. Born in Bangalore and educated across prestigious institutions, Mr. Acharya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Universities of Madras and Hong Kong and a Master’s in Economics from the University of Manchester, UK. His early career was marked by a brief yet insightful period as a school teacher, followed by an intensive study of Chinese at the University of Delhi, which complemented his academic background and prepared him for the civil service exams.
Joining the Indian Administrative Service in 1974, Mr. Acharya’s career spanned 35 years, including high-level government positions.
As Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Acting Chairman of APEDA, he was instrumental in developing and launching India’s National Policy on Organic Production, which was released by the Prime Minister in 2000. This policy remains a cornerstone in India’s agricultural strategy, underscoring Mr. Acharya’s vision and commitment to sustainable practices.
Mr. Acharya retired as Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare within the Ministry of Defence, where his leadership continued to benefit the nation.
His post-retirement years have seen a new chapter in education, where he served as Chief Executive for a prominent education trust, managing their engineering and general science institutions. Additionally, his role as an independent director on the board of Bharat Electronics Ltd. reflects his continued influence in national development.

Bringing a wealth of global educational expertise
Dr. Abhimanyu Acharya was educated at various schools abroad before taking his Senior Cambridge at The Scindia School in Gwalior. His under-graduate education was at St. Stephens’ College, Delhi and his Master’s degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He earned his doctorate in Human Resource Development from Cheshire University, United Kingdom.
Following his experience with the Government of India at Singapore, Abhimanyu Acharya took up teaching at his Alma Mater, The Scindia School, Gwalior. After a very successful stint at Gwalior, he left to head an Integrated Rural Development Project near Bengaluru where he stayed for 15 years. In 1995, he was appointed Principal designate of the I.T.C. Residential School and remained till 2000, the Principal Academic Resource to the ITC-Education Trust.
He was also the Coordinator of WWF-India’s activities in the four Southern States where his expertise in ethology and wild animal care were given full rein. From 1996, Abhimanyu Acharya advised the Government of Andhra Pradesh on International Education and established an International School in Hyderabad. He was, briefly, the Advisor to the Chairman, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. after which he returned to Hyderabad. He was inducted as the Director and Chief Knowledge Officer of Careercommunity.com Ltd. He was also the Chief Editor, The Hindu Opportunities.
He is a prolific writer, on various subjects of an eclectic nature widely published both in India and abroad. He has more than 1850 publications to his credit. Dr. Acharya established AA Associates in 2002, which specialises in Educational consultancy and he was the prime mover in the establishment, on a turnkey basis of Colleges and schools across the country and abroad.
He has been involved in the creation of several international schools in Kolkata, Ranchi, Hyderabad, Mahbubnagar, Wanaparti and Udaipur. He has set up an engineering college, a catering college, two business schools and a Marine institute in Kolkata and the Royal University College in Sharjah, UAE. He continues to serve on the Boards of Management of several of these institutions. This also gives him the opportunity of indulging in his passion to direct and produce plays at the institutions with which he is associated. Several of his plays have been professionally performed in prestigious public venues such as the Kamani Auditorium (for the Mayo College, Ajmer) and the Bashirudin Babukhan Auditorium, Hyderabad (for Glendale Academy). He is also the Educational Advisor to His Highness Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid Mohammed Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Sharjah for whom he has set up the Royal University College in Sharjah.
Dr. Acharya is the UGC Professor of Eminence at Hamdard University, New Delhi. He delivers courses in Human Resources Management at prestigious business schools such as The Warwick Business School, UK, The Rotterdam Business School and at the Maastricht School of Business in the Netherlands. He is a popular consultant and provides guidance to several industries and was, at one point, the lead recruiting consultant to Arcelor Mittal worldwide.

Nurturing young minds with care and compassion
Mrs. Geetha Acharya heads the Early Childhood Initiative of the Acharyashrama Trust, the Pushkarini Balodyana. Mrs. Geetha Acharya brings over 30 years of expertise in early childhood education.
She completed her education at the Baldwin Girls’ High School and Mount Carmel College, Bangalore before pursuing Montessori training, which has been the foundation of her teaching philosophy for over two decades.
As a certified Montessori educator, Mrs. Acharya has guided young learners at renowned institutions, including Vidya Sagar and NAFL in Bangalore, and Toddlers Train and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in New Delhi.
Her approach to early childhood education goes beyond traditional academics, prioritising the holistic development of children through a thoughtful blend of sensory learning, creative exploration, and structured routines.
Her commitment to a nature-inspired environment extends beyond the classroom. Mrs. Acharya’s deep love for gardening and natural flowers is evident in the school’s peaceful, beautiful green campus. She works tirelessly to create an environment where children learn amid nature, cultivating a sense of calm and respect for the world around them.
